The project is situated beneath the surface of the ocean, an environment where the human body is not in a superior position. The starting point of the work originates from the philosopher Cusanus thoughts about Ratio, Intellectus and an unknowing, in an attempt to approach and understand the humans limitations in relation to her surroundings. Water becomes an immersive medium for releasing control and perceiving bodies in relation to each other. In the process, two voices are disputing, one of emotion and ignorance, the other of struckture and measurements. Throughout, ratio is questioned as a way in which we value the measurable rather than the emotional. The process manifests itself in a performative mediation about letting go and becoming with the unknowing. This project is about how to create a furniture that’s developing with its user so that an emotional bond can be built up between the user and the object. The cabinets strucktur will change alongside its user. By using artistic methods in collaborative learning situations, the project aimed to enable discussions around posthumanism in an accessible way within different contexts. The project has engaged with design as a broad concept and used it to challenge perspectives of relations between the human and the non-human. To explore and communicate the project we created curated workshops, interventions and textual- plus visual language to encourage dialogue about a more-than-humans thinking. The outcome of this project is an example of an explorative design model/process which produces reflections around attentiveness towards a more-than-human concept. I wanted to create something almost like paper but yet solid to illustrate the material and method capability. Bend works both as a stool for two people or a stool for one and a side table. For me, the essence of Tage is kindness and self-distans which i have translated into a fun yet simple design.The user has the opportunity to move the fabric, and thus be able to choose how much light is let through. Is my movement a construction or is it the essence of me? The starting point for this project was to explor human movement as a resource for communication. To explore the complexity of the body in relations to object and space I worked with, dancer Christopher Mitchell in a workshop session where we in different ways challenge our movements. To visualize the complexity of my discoveries I created nine GIFs that express different emotions and ten sentences that can be interpret in different ways. What I want to show with this display is that the body is not just a toll for our physical but instead a way of being with others. The project was selected to be presented at RIAN design museum in Falkenberg where I decided to scale it up to a larger display for the visitors to interact with. The display is meant to be a discussion piece that opens up reflections about movement.
